Jullie mogen jullie toch gelukkig prijzen dat Trump een democraat is en niet een dictator zoals sommige hem hier zo graag afspiegelen. Get ready to pay more for your next car. Auto prices in the United States will start to rise very soon – perhaps within the next few weeks.

That’s because President Donald Trump once again announced plans for 25% tariffs on imported cars and parts that will go into effect April 3, a move that will raise the cost of producing all cars sold in the United States – both imports and those built in American factories – by thousands of dollars each.

Those additional costs will rapidly lift car prices if the tariffs go into effect. Previous plans for tariffs had been paused or postponed twice.

“It is going to be expensive,” said Ivan Drury, director of insights at Edmunds.com. He said it will be an unpleasant sticker shock that could come much sooner than most people realize, even before some of the cars that will now cost more to produce arrive at their local dealerships.

“It’s too soon to tell how much,” he said. “But it’ll be a couple of thousands of dollars, if not more.”

Automakers won’t necessarily raise their wholesale prices, which are paid by dealers, by the full cost of the tariffs, said Drury. But there are other way to pass on the costs to car buyers.

“They can simply remove some incentives that are quite lucrative,” he said. If automakers drop an offer for car loans at a subsidized 1.9% interest rate, it will reduce their costs, but raise the cost to car buyers by $6,000 to $7,000 per car, Drury added.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. economy expanded at a healthy annual 2.4% pace the final three months of 2024, supported by a year-end surge in consumer spending, the government said Thursday in a slight upgrade of its previous estimate of fourth-quarter growth.

But it’s unclear whether the United States can sustain that growth as President Donald Trump wages trade wars, purges the federal workforce and promises mass deportations of immigrants working in the country illegally.

Growth in gross domestic product — the nation’s output of goods and services — decelerated from a 3.1% pace in July-September 2024, the Commerce Department said.


For all of 2024, the economy — the world’s biggest — grew 2.8%, down a tick from 2.9% in 2023.

Consumer spending rose at a 4% pace, up from 3.7% in third-quarter 2023. But business investment fell, led by an 8.7% drop in investment in equipment.

A drop in business inventories shaved 0.84 percentage points off fourth-quarter GDP growth.

Stel je verwachtingen niet te hoog. KleineSpaarder zijn modus operandi is om iemand die hem op zijn fouten (letterlijk of figuurlijk ) wijst aan te vallen en te beledigen.

Ook ik mocht dit onlangs ervaren … maar wacht nog steeds op een reactie van KleineSpaarder waarbij hij zijn bronnen en cijfergegevens prijsgeeft. Het ontbreken van een reactie is duidelijk genoeg, dunkt me

Mijn bron was trouwens REUTERS en gaat over cijfers 2024 (en niet van 2023). En daarin wordt uitdrukkelijk vermeld dat China de grootste importeur was in 2024.

In de VS heeft onlangs een hoop tuig een kwijtschelding van de rest van hun straf gekregen van de nieuwe president. Als DAT kan... Het zal een signaal geweest zijn dat het geen kwaad kan om op te komen voor je idealen en dat de wet dan ineens niet meer telt.

Het woord Tuig lijkt me eerder van toepassing op de bezetters van het capitool in 2021 en minder op Musk tegenstanders.
